The A-10 CETS Field Technician serves as the MX technical expert in the maintenance, operation, and training related to complex and sophisticated A-10 systems and equipment.


  • Liaison between the A-10 System Program Office (SPO), the Equipment Specialist (ES) and the Engineers for the unit.
  • Ensure information is passed through correctly and accurately while ensuring accurate fixes to sophisticated problems.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and data.
  • Identify and analyze complex technical problems and develop solutions.
  • Provide technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and maintenance technicians.
  • Develop interpersonal relationships, maintaining good working relationships, and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Document all maintenance in aircraft forms, or related documentation forms, as well as CAMS/IMDS or other computer-based maintenance tracking systems.
  • Wire troubleshooting/repair on MIL-STD 1760, Triax video, RF, and standard multi-pin connectors.
  • Use Control Test Set (CTS), the Missile Launch Test System Test Set (MLSTS), Armament Circuits Pre-Load Test Set, Armament Control System Interface Test Set, MER/TER/BRU-3 Test Set, MAU-12/40/50 Test Set, A/E24T-138 Test Set, MK-III/MK-IV Test Set/Multi-meter DSM- 157/ARM136, Detent Tester and Proof Load Testers to perform maintenance training for weapons systems operational checkouts, fault isolation and troubleshooting operations.
  • Perform scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and resolved component malfunctions on NIE, AME and individual aircraft components.
  • Use an oscilloscope, TER test set and the DVD voltage tester to troubleshoot multiple hung munitions problems.
  • Operate a Portable Avionics Test Station (PATS-70) Tester and Portable Automated Test Set (PATS).


  • Experience in A-10 theory of operation on/off aircraft, troubleshooting, inspection, assembly, of all normally installed equipment, and alternate mission equipment.
  • Knowledge of all specialties related to the A-10C to include weapons, avionics, APG, hydraulics, electro and environmental, and repair and reclamation.
  • Knowledge of a comprehensive range of A-10 maintenance concepts, principles, and practices related to the systems/equipment.
  • Experience drafting/editing of AFTO 22’s and Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR).
  • In depth knowledge of all AFI’s, safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
