Overview

GMRE is seeking a Linux / Unix Engineer to support a possible upcoming contractual effort.

 

Responsibilities

  • Solaris and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Access Control List (ACL) management
  • Backup policies/jobs/management
  • VMware vCenter (VM) - installation, management, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Account management in a centralized Network Information Services (NIS) environment
  • Software/hardware installation/testing/troubleshooting, antivirus maintenance
  • Relational database design and best practices
  • License Managers
  • Create individual user accounts using NIS/Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)/Third-party tool like Power Broker
  • Test and troubleshoot hardware and software on both Sparc workstations, Sun Rays, and Intel-based systems
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure software client machines with AV, HBSS (frameworks and Data Loss Prevention tools), LogRhythm connectors, SolarWinds connectors, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), etc.
  • Stay abreast of current technologies
  • Attach created Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs) to Solaris/RHEL servers
  • Create LUNs on Network Attached Storage (NAS) or Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies
  • Hardware testing and troubleshooting including DNS, DHCP, 802.1X, LUN connectivity, and Fiber Channel issues
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure Sparc-based and Intel-based Solaris servers
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure software lifecycle products such as: Bugzilla, Jenkins, and Gerrit
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure software and license managers
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and configure old operating systems such as IRIX
  • Install, configure, update, secure, and manage Oracle on Linux/Unix platforms
  • Design, create, modify, and update relational databases (i.e. Oracle)
  • PXE machines using MCCR managed processes/images/kick starts
  • Install queues, test, and troubleshoot printer queues under Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work in the U.S. and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
  • BA/BS in Information Technology or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience with other Linux distributions and Silicon Graphics Interface (SGI)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Oracle tools (i.e. databases, Web Logic, Fusion middleware, and business intelligence products)
  • Experience with relational database design and relational database best practices
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Familiar with Air Force (AF)/Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and user Operating Instructions on Cyber Security best practices and policies
